MESSAGE FROM THE CONVENOR
Dear all, On behalf of the organising committee, I would like to express that it is both an honour and privilege to be organising this tournament. I thank the initiators for initiating this event, and baring with us as we negotiate the final date. I would also like to thank the administration for baring with us, despite the hectic schedule they have from now till December, and most importantly all the institutions who have made sacrifices in order to make this event possible. Given the time constraint, the process of putting things together was no boat ride, but the staffs are very excited in welcoming you to this new and much needed event for the Asian Debating Community. Keeping this in mind, we will do our best to ensure that this tournament will benefit the Asian Debating Community as much as possible. We are focusing on bringing a lot of experience adjudicators from Asia, Europe and Ociania, and will try our best to bring more as the amount of sponsors increase.
We look forward to giving you the best possible experience in Bangkok. The "Thai Smile" is the smile that reflects the "heart's content," and we hope that while you are here you will enjoy this hospitality and return home with one. If you should have any inquiries please contact;
The staff and myself will try our best to accommodate your needs and questions. See you in November!

MESSAGE FROM THE TOURNAMENT ADVISOR
On behalf of Chulalongkorn University Debating Society, I would first like to welcome all participants to the Inaugural Asian British Parliamentary Intervarsity Debating Championships 2009.
I must express my sincere thanks to the Worlds 2010 CA, Logan; Worlds 2009 DCA, Tate; Austral 2010 DCA, Sharmila and TJ ,CA of the Unity tournament for Asian Debaters for their initiation to establish this event. We are deeply honoured to have been requested to host this tournament for Asia after hosting the 6th All-Asian Intervarsity Debating Championships 1999.
I also wish to thank NLS for postponing their tournament to the following week and Great Serdang for moving their tournament one week ahead so as many as possible Asian institutions and debaters can join this ‘Chula Asian BP 2009’. I also need to recognize Assumption University for shuffling around the dates of the 4th Thailand High school Debating Championships 2009.
Everyone has been extremely cooperative as we have tried to finalize the dates to be the most suitable for all Asian universities and avoid clashes whenever possible with examinations as well as national and international tournaments. Chula was requested to move the dates to the last week of November but as this Is the period of final examinations for our international programmes, it just was not feasible.
Everyone has been extremely cooperative as we have tried to finalize the dates to be the most suitable for all Asian universities and avoid clashes whenever possible with either examinations as well as national and international tournaments.
We hope that this tournament will provide the Asian debaters the chance to develop competitiveness among Asian teams in the BP format, to experience a large BP tournament to get them ready to debate at the World Universities Debating Championships as well as to enhance better understanding and relationships between the Asian debaters and the adjudicators from World Universities Debating Championships.
Before concluding, I must mention that without the support of Assoc. Professor Tanit Tonthong, Ph.D, Vice President for Student Affairs, Ajarn Rosanaporn Viravan, Assistant to the President of Chulalongkorn University, and the Office of Student Affairs this tournament would never have been possible in such short notice.
Again, let me thank everyone now for contributing to what I am confident will be an outstanding and memorable championships.
Assistant Professor Piyanart Faktorngpan
Advisor to Chulalongkorn University Debating Society
